Audi has taken the wraps off its flagship electric car, the Audi RS E-Tron GT Performance. Long and superhero-movie style name, but the Audi’s packs plenty of punch to match it.
Record-Breaking Power and Acceleration
Starting with the power figures. This is the most powerful Audi ever. A whopping 912 horsepower is on offer with 0-62 mph taking just 2.5 seconds. It probably took you 2.5 seconds to read this paragraph. Now imagine reaching 62mph in that time - bonkers, right?
Updated E-Tron GT Lineup Overview
The whole E-Tron GT lineup has got a minor facelift and Audis tinkered with stuff regarding the variants. The lineup includes the S E-Tron GT, RS E-Tron GT, and RS E-Tron GT Performance, all equipped with Audi’s torque-vectoring electric all-wheel drive system, thanks to their dual-motor configuration. The entry-level model, the S E-Tron GT, now boasts 680hp. The RS E-Tron GT's power has been increased to 857hp, while the new RS E-Tron GT Performance leads the range.
Distinctive Design and Styling Updates
To distinguish the standard E-Tron GT from the RS variants, the S E-Tron GT features silver triangular inserts in the front air dam. The RS models sport more assertive L-shaped inserts, with an optional 'camouflage' carbon fiber finish available for the Performance model as part of the carbon pack. Additional design updates include a hexagonal pattern embossed on the front mask and a redesigned diffuser with a central reflector on the RS models.
Battery Enhancements and Faster Charging
The battery pack has also been upgraded from 84.0 kilowatt-hours to 97.0 kilowatt-hours. And there’s more. With the E-Tron now getting 320-kilowatt maximum charging power, it can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes. Audi claims that the E-tron will have 378 miles as per the European WLTP cycle.
Advanced Suspension and Handling
The E-Tron lineup features a new air suspension system with 2-chamber/2-valve technology. This system includes separate valves for rebound and compression, enhancing performance while maintaining comfort. The E-Tron will offer an optional active suspension system and rear-wheel steering in 2025.
Wheel Options and Brakes
The S E-Tron GT sits on 21-inch wheels, while the RS models will offer a selection of 21-inch wheels. Fans will appreciate the return of the “AVUS” style six-spoke wheels, reminiscent of the 1991 Audi Avus Quattro concept. The S E-Tron GT comes with steel brakes, whereas the RS models are equipped with tungsten carbide-coated brake discs. Additionally, carbon ceramic brakes with 10-piston calipers are available as an option across the lineup.
Revamped Interior and Cutting-Edge Technology
Step inside and you will find an updated interior, enhanced seats, a new steering wheel, redesigned entry sills, and updated graphics across the various screens. The introduction of a square steering wheel is a new design for Audi. The Audi Virtual Cockpit includes special features for Performance customers, such as a mode that mimics the white gauges seen in the RS2 Avant.
