Surge in SUV and Crossover Sales

A significant driver of Nissan's success in the Middle East has been its SUVs and crossovers, which accounted for more than half of the total sales. Leading the charge was the iconic Nissan Patrol, which saw a remarkable 26% increase in sales compared to FY22. The Patrol, renowned for its off-road prowess, sold nearly 20,000 units, marking a 9% increase across the region.

Aftersales Growth and Innovation

In addition to vehicle sales, Nissan reported substantial growth in its after-sales segment. Parts and accessories sales grew by 9% during FY23, while Nissan Genuine Motor Oil (NGMO) recorded an impressive 23% increase. This growth was bolstered by the introduction of local oil blending in Qatar, ensuring a sufficient supply of NGMO to customers across the region. This just shows that selling good cars isn’t everything, after-sales service also matters and Nissan has laid great emphasis on that too.

The X-TRAIL, Nissan’s Premium Urban Crossover, along with the KICKS, Pathfinder, and X-TERRA were the main stars of the show. The X-Trail achieved the highest sales increase within the SUV segment, while the Nissan KICKS doubled its sales in FY23, reflecting its growing popularity among consumers. The Pathfinder saw an impressive 41% growth, and the X-TERRA experienced a 20% increase in sales during the same period.

Continued Success of the Nissan Sunny

How can we talk about Nissan’s sales and not mention the Sunny. The Nissan Sunny, with its illustrious legacy spanning over half a century, has remained a beloved choice among families and young drivers in the Middle East. The Sunny maintained its strong performance, recording over 20,000 units sold in FY23 and retaining its position with the highest segment share.

This was closely followed by Kuwait, with a 23% increase compared to the previous year, while demand remained steady in other markets, including Qatar.

Looking Ahead: Nissan’s 2024 plans

Looking forward to FY24, Nissan plans to implement The Arc, its global business plan, which will employ innovative strategies to drive growth across multiple regions, including the Middle East. This includes expanding the brand's presence and lineup with the regional launch of all-new SUV models before the end of the year.
